Role and Responsibilities This is mid-level clerical support work of moderate difficulty and complexity involving a variety of tasks requiring independent work decisions within established policies and timeframes, usually requiring familiarity with specialized terminology.
General Duties Serves as receptionist or information clerk; determines purpose of contact; provides general information and assists in preparation of forms if needed; directs individuals to proper destination; receives and distributes messages.
Serves as Medical intake; schedules patient appointments; check patients in for appointments; check patients out after appointments; collect payment for medical services; verify patient insurance and determine insurance coverage.
Establishes and maintains filing systems; prepares records for storage and/or archiving; scans files for EHR storage.
Enters, updates, and/or retrieves information utilizing Electronic Health Records, State Systems, and internal Microsoft systems.
Provides vital records in accordance with state of Missouri guidelines.
Reviews documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; proofreads completed work.
Compiles and summarizes data or reports from a variety of sources in accordance with specific instructions or procedures.
Operates standard office equipment; is proficient in Microsoft programs and has experience with Electronic Health Records.
Lifts and/or moves materials, as necessary, in the performance of assigned duties.
Receives general supervision from a designated OSA supervisor, however, will work independently within established guidelines.
Is fluent in medical terminology; can decipher shot records and determine need.
Displays excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Education Requirements 1.
Intermediate knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
2.
Intermediate knowledge of business math computations, grammar, composition, and spelling.
3.
Intermediate knowledge of computer information systems and software.
4.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
5.
Ability to establish and/or maintain moderately complex records; use coding and filing systems; and retrieve and compile data.
6.
Ability to prepare spreadsheets and reports.
7.
Ability to make and apply routine decisions in accordance with policies and procedures.
8.
Ability to review documents for accuracy and completeness.
9.
Ability to complete assignments accurately within specified timeframes.
10.
Ability to serve as a lead worker as assigned.
11.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
12.
Experience working in a medical office with EMR preferred.
13.
Experience working with medical insurance billing preferred.
14.
Excellent Customer Service skills both in person and on the phone.
Preferred Skills Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
Six or more months of experience in clerical or general office support work; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
(Training from an accredited vocational or business school in Office Management, Secretarial Science, or a closely related area may substitute on a month-for-month basis for the required experience at a rate of 3 earned credit hours, or 40 clock hours, for one month.

All employees must report for duty upon request of the Director during a public health emergency.

This requirement contemplates satisfactory completion of required course work.
Completion of continuing education course work that may not be mandatory; but which is designed to ensure currency in the discipline, is encouraged.
Additionally, emergency response training courses, identified as appropriate by ordinance, statute, or administration must be completed within established time frames.
Annually, JCHD administration will require various course work completion which is not discipline specific and is determined to be of benefit to the organization as a whole.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
